It can be helpful to have a roadmap that only shows items which are of interest to a specific customer. This helps front-facing teams plan interactions with VIPs so you can maintain important relationships.
The way to do this in Productboard is by filtering a board by Customer. Since customers are linked to items via insights, this method won't work if the customer you're filtering for doesn't have any insights linked to them.

Filtering a roadmap by customer interest
This works differently on Legacy and New experiences. Click the sections below to view experience-specific instructions, or click here to learn more about what's going on.
To filter Legacy roadmaps for specific customers, follow the steps below:
- Open any roadmap, or create a new one.
- In the header, click
Filter.
- Select
Companies.
- Click the name of the customer you'd like to filter for. You can use the search bar in the filter window to narrow down the list.
- Under Insights rated, choose how important a feature must be to the company in order to appear on the roadmap, or select Show all important to grab everything the customer has ever asked for.
- Under Insights created, choose the period of time within which a feature must have been linked to a customer via insights in order to appear on the roadmap. The default selection here is Any time.
- Click the
Configure button and use the toggles to add information your customer may want to know, such as Health, Dependencies, and Progress.
- Click the Save button to save your customer-specific roadmap.
Timelines and columns boards use advanced filters. To build a roadmap for specific customers on a timeline or columns board, follow the steps below:
- Create a new timeline or columns board, or open the Board controls of an existing one.
- Under Board controls, set the main item to Feature.
- Under Filters, click Add filter.
- Set the filter target to Product hierarchy and the filter condition to Company Importance.
- Leave the Importance parameter on is any.
- Set the Company parameter to is any of, then select whichever company or companies you want to filter for.
- Click Apply.
You may wish to organize your board into columns or groups (swimlanes) based on release. You can do that from Board controls either during or after the initial setup. In any case, once the board is setup to your liking and you've applied your board controls, don't forget to click Save in the top right corner.
Sharing a roadmap directly with customers
If you're working with Legacy roadmaps (not timelines or columns boards), you can share them with your customers.
You can do this in two different ways:
- You can share your roadmap publicly with your customer. For more information, see Share your roadmaps with external stakeholders and customers.
- You can export an image of the roadmap and share it with your customer, for more information, see Share your roadmap by exporting to PNG and PDF.
We recommend the first option, because when new insights from the customer are linked to features, the publicly shared roadmap will be updated automatically.
