Insights boards: Filter and process feedback

Pricing banner: The following capabilities are available on all Productboard plans.

As the number of insights flowing into Productboard grows, you'll need scalable systems to review and categorize them efficiently. Insights boards help by grouping related feedback so that:

The result is more actionable insights to guide prioritization and design.

In this article:

How insights boards work

Insights boards act like smart folders, defined by any set of available feedback filters.

Note: When you apply multiple filters to define an insights board, only feedback that meets all filter criteria appears.

Each workspace includes a default insights board with pre-made filters to help you navigate feedback right away. You'll find it from the Main menu > Library > Feedback.

Makers and admins can create and manage custom insights boards, subject to board ownership and locking permissions. Contributors can access default boards and any custom boards already created. All members can favorite or unfavorite a board.

How to create a custom insights board

If you're an admin or maker, you can create a new insights board like so:

  1. From the Global header, click Create.

  2. Under Boards, select Insights. A new board will be created in your Personal space.

  3. Click the board's name to modify it.
  4. (Optional) Apply filters using the dropdown or buttons in the board header.
  5. (Optional): If you added filters, click Save.

  6. (Optional) If you want others to be able to see this board, you need to move it to a teamspace that others have access to. Click ••• More actions > Move to  and select a destination, then click Move. Anyone with access to that teamspace can now see this board.

Alternatively, you can create an insights board directly in a teamspace:

  1. From the Main menu, click Home.
  2. Under Spaces, hover over Organization or a specific teamspace or folder and click Create a new board or folder.
  3. Click Insights to create the board in that location.
  4. (Optional) Edit the board's name and filters as above.

Saving insights boards

Saving a board captures its current filter configuration so you can return to it later or share it with others.

Whenever you change a board's filters, you'll see options to update the existing board (Save), save the configuration as a new board (Save as new), or revert to the last saved version (Discard changes).

Feedback data itself isn't captured in the board definition. Changes to feedback's status, owner, or content have no effect on saved board definitions and are automatically reflected on all boards where that feedback appears.

If you make changes to a board and navigate away without saving, the board reverts to its last saved version.

Renaming, deleting, duplicating, or moving a saved board

Additional options are available by clicking the Dots-1.svg next to a board's name in your teamspace or personal folder list, or by clicking the Dots-1.svg in the top right of a board. From here you can rename, delete, duplicate, or move the board. Changes are reflected for everyone with access.

Adding an insights board to your favorites

Makers and contributors can add or remove any insights board from their favorites, including boards in teamspaces they're not a member of.

To add a board to your Favorites:

  1. Open the board.
  2. At the top of the board, click the star beside its name.
