Review an item's insights

Pricing banner: The following capabilities are available on all Productboard plans.

Any item which can have feedback linked to it via insights will display those insights in its sidebar, allowing you to quickly review the feedback which is contributing to any given item.

Reviewing an item's insights

Once you've linked feedback to a feature, initiative, or other item, you'll see the insight reflected in that item's insights sidebar, which you can access by clicking the item and then clicking the Insights tab.

Note: Which tabs appear in an item's sidebar will depend on which type of item you clicked. For example, features have many more tabs than products. Any item type which can accept insights will have an insights tab.

The Customer Importance Score box shows you the total CIS attributed to this item from all direct and underlying insights. Hovering over the box will break down the number for you.

Click the Direct insights or Underlying insights dropdowns to reveal more information.

Direct insights

Click Direct insights to view all the insights which have been linked directly to this item. Blue dots to the right of each insight indicate its importance rating.

You can hover over an insight to access a menu which allows you to unlink the insight from this item or add a link to a different item.

From the hover menu, you can click ••• More actions to access even more options, including the ability to jump directly to the source feedback item or copy this insight as text, an image, or a link.

Underlying insights

Click Underlying insights to view a list of subordinate items in order from highest to lowest Customer Impact Score. Since CIS rolls up from children to parent items, this helps you understand how a parent item's CIS is being calculated.

Clicking on a listed item will take you to that item's Insights tab.

Submitting feedback directly from an item's sidebar

You can also submit new insights about a particular item directly from its Insights tab. This will create a new note that's pre-linked to the item it relates to.

  1. From an item's Insights tab, click Add insight.
  2. Select the company/user source of the feedback, indicate the feedback's importance, and write the feedback itself in the input field.
  3. Click Add insight to finish the feedback and link it to the item you had originally selected.
