Set up Productboard

Pricing banner: The following capabilities are available on all Productboard plans.

The Setup page is a hub that helps you connect key integrations and unlock use cases in sequence, from gathering feedback to proving launch impact. With each connected integration, a new Spark skill becomes available that can immediately provide useful output.

In this article:

Opening the Setup page

The easiest way to access the Setup page is from the global header. From there, click Set up Productboard.

Note: Only admins and makers can access the Setup page. Contributors and viewers won't even see the button.

Once you've opened the page at least once, and unlocked at least five use cases, the button will shrink, but you'll still be able to access the page from the same location.

Using the Setup page

The Setup page is designed to model a modern AI-powered Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC), with the seven stages of the PDLC arranged in a circle around a central hub.

You're meant to start at the top with stage 1 and proceed clockwise around the circle to stage 7. At each stage, you'll set up relevant integrations. Each type of integration enables your workspace to handle another use case; you'll use Spark skills to familiarize yourself with those use cases as they come online.

To be more specific:

  1. When a stage hasn't been completed yet, it looks greyed out, like this:

  2. Click the Add connectors button (the blue plus button) to open a list of relevant integrations.

  3. Select an integration and follow the information on screen to connect the integration. (If you're not an admin, you likely won't be able to complete the connection yourself, but you'll be able to notify admins to do it for you.
  4. (Optional) Repeat step 3 until you've connected or requested all the integrations you think you'll need. (You can always add more later).
  5. Once you've connected at least one integration, a blue button will appear on the stage card. Click this button to start a chat with Spark which will help you explore the capabilities you've just enabled.

Do this for all seven stages and your workspace setup will be complete!

Note: You don't need to connect every integration and complete every stage to start using Productboard. Each integration you add unlocks its use case independently.

The center hub

The hub card in the center of the page doesn't describe a specific stage in the PDLC, nor does it help you manage external integrations. Rather, it surfaces a few key Productboard concepts that will help you enhance your workspace even more.

Click the buttons in the central hub card any time to learn about these concepts with Spark. You may also find it helpful to read through the accompanying articles here in the Help Center:
