The following plans are available (prices shown for annual billing):
Credits are pooled across your entire workspace—they aren't assigned to individual makers. For example, on the Business plan with 3 makers, you get 1,500 credits per month (3 × 500) for your whole team to share.
Credit allowances are designed to support a healthy mix of AI-driven work each month. The higher your plan tier, the more operations you can run. See AI credit information below for typical task costs.
For more on credits, see AI credit information below.
Productboard offers a free trial for 14 days with 500 credits per maker.
Once the free trial is finished, you can upgrade or your account will convert into a free account.
Productboard offers a Free plan with ongoing Spark access, no credit card required.
- The Free plan includes 50 AI credits per month, shared across your whole workspace. Credits reset on your monthly billing date.
On the Free plan, once you've used your 50 monthly credits, you'll lose access to AI features until your credits reset at the start of the next month. You'll still have access to your workspace, documents, and notes.
When you upgrade from the Free plan to a paid plan, your new plan's credits become available on your first paid billing date.
If you need more credits before your renewal date, you can purchase credit top-ups. Top-ups are only available on paid plans, trial users must upgrade to a paid plan to purchase additional credits.
Monthly plans
- 50-credit bundles: $5/month per bundle.
- Minimum purchase: 1 bundle (50 credits).
- You select the quantity of bundles you need.
Annual plans
- 600-credit bundles: $60/year per bundle.
- Minimum purchase: 1 bundle (600 credits).
- Credits are distributed monthly in 50-credit increments.
If you purchase credit top-ups mid-period, both the cost and the credits are pro-rated for that initial monthly period. All credits, base and add-on, expire on your monthly subscription renewal date.
Tip: Plan ahead for credit-intensive projects. If you know you'll need extra capacity for a major initiative, purchase top-ups early in your billing cycle.
AI credit information
Credits power all AI interactions in Spark. Any time you use AI in Spark, for example, to generate or edit a document, or to run an analysis, you spend credits.
- Credits are included based on your plan: 50/month on Free, 250/maker/month on Plus, 500/maker/month on Business, and 1,500 base + 800/maker/month on Enterprise. All credits are pooled across the workspace.
On the Free plan, your workspace gets 50 credits per month (for all users).
Once your workspace runs out of credits, you'll still be able to open Spark, see your workspace, documents, and notes, but you won't be able to use the AI features again until credits reset (once per month on paid plans) or you buy more (see Top-ups).
The number of credits a task uses depends on how complex it is. Here are typical ranges:
All credits in your workspace are pooled, they aren't assigned to individual makers. This means any maker in your workspace can use any of the available credits.
For example, if your workspace has 3 makers on a paid plan that grants 250 credits per month, you'll have 750 credits total per month (3 makers × 250 credits) for your team to use collectively.
Tip: Credit pooling makes it easy for your team to collaborate. Makers who focus on research-heavy tasks can use more credits while others use fewer, and it all comes from the same pool.
What happens when your workspace hits its credit limit depends on your plan.
Self-serve plans (Free, Plus, Business)
When your workspace runs out of credits, all AI features stop working until credits reset on your next renewal date. To restore access sooner, purchase a credit top-up or upgrade to a higher plan.
You'll see banners inside Spark when you're running low or have hit your limit, explaining your status and your options. Admins also receive email notifications at 80% and 100% of your monthly limit.
Contract plans (Business contract and Enterprise)
Spark continues to work after your workspace exceeds its included credits. Your team can keep using AI features without interruption, and any usage above your included amount is billed as additional credit bundles at the end of the month.
Admins receive email notifications at 80%, 90%, and 100% of your monthly credit allocation so you can track consumption as it climbs.
If you'd prefer to prevent usage beyond your included credits, contact support@productboard.com to request a hard cap on your workspace. With a hard cap enabled, Spark stops accepting new AI requests once your allocation is exhausted, the same as self-serve plans.
If you start a task and your workspace runs out of credits in the middle:
- That task will still finish, even if it takes you slightly over your current credit limit.
- We do not deduct that overage from future months' credits at this time.
For a free trial:
- You get 500 credits per maker for the length of the trial.
- All credits expire when the free trial ends.
For paid Spark plans:
- All credits, both the base amount (variable by plan) per maker included and any add-on/top-up credits, expire each month on your subscription renewal date.
- On the renewal date, your credit balance is reset for the new month.
For credit top-ups:
- Top-up credits follow the same monthly reset as your base credits.
- They expire on your monthly renewal date, even if you bought them mid-cycle.
If you buy top-ups partway through your billing period:
- Both the price and the number of credits are pro-rated to match the time remaining until your renewal date.
In your Spark workspace, from the Main menu, click Settings > Reports > AI Credits to review credit usage charts and remaining balance. This gives you a concrete view of how your typical workflows translate into credits.
Billing
Yes, there is a free plan which includes 50 credits for Spark each month.
Spark is a fundamental part of Productboard and cannot be canceled on its own. If you'd like to cancel your Productboard subscription, please contact support@productboard.com.
If Spark fails and you're charged credits for a task that didn't complete successfully, you can request a credit refund by emailing support@productboard.com.
Existing customers and legacy plans
No. Spark is available in your workspace and your AI credits are applied on September 8, 2026 (contract) or October 1, 2026 (self-serve). You don't need to sign a new order form or move to the current pricing version to start using it.
Not immediately. When your price changes depends on how you're billed.
Contract customers: v13 pricing takes effect at your next renewal date. September 1 is when credits are applied to your workspace, not when your price changes.
Self-serve customers: v13 pricing takes effect at your next renewal date on or after October 1, 2026.
The pricing comparison in your notification email shows what your plan and price will be at renewal.
Your allocation depends on the plan you move to at renewal. Your notification email includes a plan comparison along with your credit allocation and price. Credits are pooled across your workspace and reset every month, the same as any other plan.
Open the Main menu and select Settings > Billing. Your allocation, usage, and remaining balance are there once credits are applied on October 1.
Going over your allocation doesn't change your contract on its own. It starts a conversation with your Productboard account owner about moving to the current pricing version ahead of your renewal date, with a larger credit allocation. You won't be invoiced for overage against your existing contract.
If you expect to use more than your allocation, contact your renewal manager or account owner and we'll work out the right plan before you get there.
Most capabilities from both are included in Spark, so you don't lose access to them. A few specifics worth noting:
- AI Analyze, AI Search, and AI Editor don't appear as separate features anymore. Spark covers the same work: analyzing feedback, finding relevant insights, and drafting specs.
- AI Support Agent is replaced by the /help skill in Spark.
- AI Topics and AI Auto-linking don't have direct Spark equivalents yet. Your access to both continues unchanged until replacements are available.
The separate Pulse and AI add-on line items are removed when you move to v13 pricing. Your new price includes everything above.
Your plan moves to the current pricing version at your next renewal on or after September 8, 2026 (contract) or October 1, 2026 (self-serve). The comparison table in your notification email shows how your current plan maps across and what changes.
Email engagement@productboard.com. For questions about your contract, price, or renewal date, contact your renewal manager or account owner directly.
If you have a legacy plan with access to unlimited contributor/viewer seats, you will continue to have access to the additional seats on your new plan.
