As soon as you have multiple colleagues helping to process incoming insights, chances are you'll end up using different terminology at times to describe similar feature ideas, which can result in redundancies.
When you discover one redundant feature that should be merged into another, use the Merge function to rapidly move all of that feature's linked insights to the target feature.
Warning: This only merges insights. All other data will be deleted (description, drivers, comments, tags, etc.) along with the initial feature. Before merging, it's best to double-check whether any of that information should be manually copied over to the new feature.
How to merge features
- Open the feature whose insights you wish to merge (the feature you don't want to keep).
- From the sidebar, click ••• More actions, then select Merge.
- In the window that appears, choose the feature that should receive the merged insights (the feature you want to keep) and click Merge.
Productboard will then unlink all the first feature's insights and relink them to the second feature before deleting the first feature and all the rest of its data.
How to merge subfeatures
The process for merging two subfeatures together is the same as for merging two features.
Current limitations
- It is not possible to merge a feature that has underlying subfeatures.
- It is not possible to merge a feature or subfeature that has been pushed to Jira, Trello, GitHub, or Pivotal Tracker.
