Accelerate feedback analysis with Productboard Pulse

It's one thing to build an effective feedback collection machine, but at a certain point you'll be collecting so much data that it'll become hard to parse effectively. Productboard Pulse provides tools to help you digest what everyone's saying about your products without having to read every word yourself.

One of the ways it does this is through its enhanced topic visualization capabilities, which can surface valuable data that would otherwise be too time-consuming to gather.

To access these capabilities, visit the Analytics page of any insights board.

Enhanced topic visualization

Productboard Pulse includes an upgrade for the Trending Topics module located on the Analytics page of every insights board. To access this module, navigate to any insights board, click Layout: Notes in the top left, and select Analytics from the dropdown.

The enhanced Trending Topics module includes the following features:

Line and bar charts

The top half of the topics module visualizes the number of notes associated with each topic over a period of time. You can use the board's time filter to adjust the timespan, and you can switch from a line graph to a bar graph using the controls in the top right.

Data visualization types

By default, charts show the number of notes related to each selected topic. However, you can change them to show Opportunity value instead. Opportunity value is a unique aspect of the Salesforce integration.

To change the data visualization type, open the Metric menu by clicking Notes in the top right corner and selecting Opportunity value.

Topics list

The bottom half of the topics module lists all the topics available for visualization. You can click the box beside each topic to remove or add it to the chart in the top half of the module. If you have a big list of topics, use the search button in the top right to narrow it down.

The list also displays the total number of notes associated with each topic, along with the topic's recent trend. The trend is based on the board's time filter, so if you're looking at notes from the past 7 days, the trends column will tell you the percent increase or decrease in new notes over the past 7 days compared to the 7 days before that.

The topics in this list change based on the time filter you've set. For example, if you've filtered the board to show notes from the past 30 days, any topic which hasn't received any new notes in the past 30 days will not appear and cannot be added to the chart.

If you've created topic groups, you'll see them here as nested entities. You can select the group to add all its child topics at once, or expand the group to select specific child topics individually.

See Topics: Identify patterns in your collected feedback for more details about topics and topic groups.

Current limitations

The data in the topic sidebar (which appears when you click directly on a topic) does not respect insights board filters yet. This means that the number of notes within a specific topic in the sidebar will potentially not match the exact number shown in the topic chart. We are currently working to address this issue.
