How do I change my plan during the trial?

Trying out Productboard? Great! We have three trial plans for you to choose from. To ensure the best possible trial experience, Productboard allows you to upgrade or downgrade your trial plans as you see fit. Feel free to explore all aspects of the product, and confidently choose the functionality, and plan, that best fits your organization’s needs.

In this article:

Which plan am I on?

All our users start on the Essentials plan. This is where we introduce the basics of roadmapping and planning. If your trial plan menu isn’t visible, simply click the sparkle icon in the left hand menu to bring it up on the bottom of your screen.

Click the sparkle icon (with the “Show your trial progress” tooltip) to bring up the trial plan menu.

Upgrading my trial plan

If you’re fully satisfied having updatable and shareable roadmaps that sync easily with your development tools – great, look no further than the Essentials plan. However, if you’d like to explore everything Productboard has to offer, including being able to systematically prioritize and evaluate all your customer Insights, then go ahead and upgrade to Pro. For even more advanced prioritization, choose Enterprise and connect objectives to your prioritization process, use your valuable CRM data to better understand customer needs, and manage multiple release groups as you scale.

You can upgrade to Pro or Enterprise on the trial plan menu at the bottom of your screen:

When the trial plan menu opens you’ll see the trial you’re currently on.

The trial plan menu shows you which plan you’re currently on, and allows you to upgrade (or downgrade) any time you like. Simply choose the plan you’d like to upgrade to and click “Let’s explore.

Upgrading my trial plan to Pro

On the trial plan menu, simply hover over Pro and then click “Let’s explore.” That’s it!
You’ll find yourself in the Insights board, where you can begin incorporating feedback from all your sources; the highlight of the Pro trial plan.

The main benefits you’ll be gaining on top of the Essentials plan are:

  • Connecting customer feedback to features
  • Validating feature ideas together with your customers

Upgrading my trial plan to Enterprise

On the trial plan menu, simply hover over Enterprise and then click “Let’s explore.” You’ll be taken to the Features board, which includes powerful prioritization tools like objectives and segments that help you evaluate each feature’s strategic importance, and more.

The main benefits you’ll be gaining on top of the Pro plan are:

  • Connecting strategic objectives to your prioritization process
  • The ability to manage multiple release groups
  • The power to segment customers using your CRM data

Downgrading my trial plan

While we’re happy to downgrade you from Enterprise all the way down to Essentials, please be aware ahead of time that if you choose to downgrade, you will lose the data created using features only available on the higher-tier plans.

So, whenever you’re ready to subscribe to your first plan, please check that you (or your team) won’t need the data or features you’ll be losing if you’re going to downgrade. If you’re ok with this, feel free to proceed!

Downgrading from the Enterprise trial to Pro

When you downgrade from Enterprise to Pro, the following will be affected:

Connecting strategic objectives to your prioritization process

Objectives will be removed from the sidebar, along with any related board filters and view columns. However, your data will be stored in a database that you can access should you ever wish to re-upgrade.

Managing multiple release groups

You will be prompted to select just 1 release group. This selected release group will be kept, while your remaining release groups will be deleted and removed from views.
